Josh Jacobs and the Las Vegas Raiders parted ways in the offseason after five years. However, Jacobs wasn't a free agent for long, as the Green Bay Packers signed him as a direct replacement for franchise icon Aaron Jones.

Jacobs has been a part of every Packers' starting lineup since he joined the franchise. Let's take a look at his availability for the team's Week 9 clash against the Detroit Lions.

Is Josh Jacobs playing this week?

Yes, Josh Jacobs is playing against the Detroit Lions this week. According to CBS Sports, Jacobs missed Wednesday's training session but said he'll be ready to play on Sunday against the Lions in a crucial NFC North showdown.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur isn't too bothered about Jacobs' injury. He stated that the star running back rolled his ankle late in Week 8 and wanted to re-enter the game.

However, he was held out as a precaution due to the importance of the upcoming week's game. Jacobs was a limited participant in Thursday and Friday's practices.

While Jacobs is set to play against the Lions, the Packers will be without safety Evan Williams due to a hamstring injury. Williams did not participate in any practice session this week, so he'll be forced to miss the game against the Lions. Offensive lineman Josh Myers is currently dealing with a wrist injury and is listed as doubtful.

How has Josh Jacobs performed this season?

Josh Jacobs has thrived in his first season away from Las Vegas. The two-time Pro Bowler is thriving in the Packers offense and has led the team in rushing yards in all but one game in the 2024 NFL season.

Jacobs has put up a stat line of 145 carries, 667 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in eight games. Jacobs leads the league in carries, and he's fourth in rushing yards.

The former Las Vegas Raiders standout is a key part of the Green Bay offense due to his ability to rack up rushing yards. He has gone under 50 yards in a game just once this season, and that came against the Tennessee Titans.

The Packers are having a solid season and go into Week 9 with a 6-2 record. Their only losses this season have come against the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings. They'll fancy their chances against the Lions, and a win will put them in prime position to secure significant home-field advantage once the postseason rolls around.
