Mike Williams signed for the New York Jets this offseason after playing seven seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. Now, fans want to know whether the wideout will make his debut for the Jets against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season on Monday night.

Mike Williams will play for the Jets against the 49ers in Week 1. The receiver is listed as active and available for the Monday Night Football contest. Williams also participated in full practice with the Jets during the week.

There were some concerns about Williams' availability since he was recovering from an ACL injury. He injured his knee while playing for the Chargers in Week 3 last year and was ruled out for the rest of the 2023 season.

Williams was activated off the physically unable to perform list on Aug. 7 this year but did not participate in any reps in team periods during the training camp. However, the player has worked himself back into the mold to be available for the Jets' season opener.

On Thursday, Williams spoke to reporters after practice and outlined his recovery from his ACL injury last season.

"It's what I expected," Williams said "I was putting the work in this whole time to make myself available to perform this season. It's all paying off at the right time."

Jets coach Robert Saleh also said that the team will need to use Williams wisely during the season.

"He actually had a really nice day [Thursday]," Saleh said. "I think he had like 4-5 catches and well over 100 yards, but I thought he had a really nice day. We're going to be very smart with how we use him [Week 1], but he's going to be plenty available to make his mark felt."

Across seven seasons with the Chargers, Williams racked up 4,806 yards on 309 receptions and caught 31 touchdowns. He also had one rushing touchdown across 88 regular season games.

Now, it will be interesting to see how Williams fares with the Jets in 2024.
