Ryan Tannehill suffered an unfortunate ankle injury in the Tennessee Titans' defeat against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15. The quarterback has reportedly been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Due to his injury, Tannehill will not play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17 on Thursday.

In Tannehill's absence, rookie quarterback Malik Willis will continue to lead the offense for the Titans. Willis made his third start of the season against the Houston Texans in Week 16 but failed to get the Titans over the line. Tennessee still has a strong chance of making it to the playoffs but will need to win both of their remaining regular-season games in order to qualify for the knockout stages.

Tannehill hurt his ankle when he took a hit from Chargers outside linebacker Khalil Mack. Titans head coach Mike Vrabel still hasn't confirmed that his first-choice quarterback will be out for the remainder of the season. Tannehill recently underwent tightrope surgery and the best-case scenario is being out of action for three weeks.

There is some hope that the 34-year-old may be eligible to return for the Week 18 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If he doesn't, then Willis may remain as the starting quarterback for the Titans.

Ryan Tannehill has put up 2,536 passing yards on 212 attempts for 13 touchdowns and six interceptions this season. He also added 98 rushing yards for two touchdowns on the ground across 12 games. Although the quarterback was not having the best of seasons, he managed to get the Titans on course for a playoff berth.

However, with Tannehill out injured, the onus of getting Tennessee into the postseason now lies on Willis. The rookie quarterback will be under some pressure to deliver the goods on Thursday against a strong Dallas backline. This will be especially important since Tennessee is currently on a five-game losing streak.
