Taysom Hill missed the New Orleans Saints' 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football. On Sunday, the Saints will look to bounce back from that defeat and improve to .500 for the season as they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in an NFC South divisional battle.
They'll have to do it without quarterback Derek Carr, who suffered an oblique injury and is expected to miss a few games.
Since Drew Brees' retirement at the end of the 2021 season, the Saints have fielded tight end Taysom Hill under center in multiple games when their starting quarterbacks were out with injuries.

They could have potentially gone to Hill after Carr's injury but unfortunately, they don't have that option at their disposal for their Week 6 game against the Buccaneers.

Will Taysom Hill play against the Buccaneers in Week 6?
According to the Saints' injury report, Taysom Hill did not practice throughout the week and won't play any part in their game against the Buccaneers on Sunday. This will be the second straight game and third in total that the veteran will miss.
He suffered a rib injury in the second quarter of New Orleans' 26-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4. He was initially ruled questionable to return and was later downgraded to out. There's no timeline on when the veteran tight end will return to action.
Taysom Hill stats: Saints will miss their offensive Swiss Army knife
While Hill is officially listed as a tight end, the 34-year-old can play a slew of roles on offense. He can start under center, play as a running back and catch passes.
This season, he has 14 carries for 77 yards and two touchdowns and has two catches for three receiving yards. He hasn't attempted a pass this season but has 2,348 passing yards in his career and 11 passing touchdowns.
In Carr's absence, Hill would have been a contender to start under center or potentially play a massive role on trick plays and been their go-to guy on quarterback draws. Instead, rookie Spencer Rattler will have to make do as the team's starting QB with Hill still ruled out.
