The Miami Dolphins will play their regular-season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, but the Fins are still concerned about CB Jalen Ramsey's health as he's battling a hamstring injury.

The likelihood that Ramsey won't be available for the Week 1 game has increased after he was absent from practice on Thursday.

Should fantasy managers be worried about the Dolphins CB?

The Miami Dolphins listed All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey with a hamstring injury, which prevented him from practicing on Wednesday and Thursday.

In addition, head coach Mike McDaniel said on Friday that he "doesn't know" if Ramsey will play against the Jaguars in Week 1.

Anthony Weaver, Miami's defensive coordinator, said Thursday:

"I'm hopeful Ramsey plays. I say prayers every night and talk to God. We have to be smart and cognitive, we have two games in five days.”

Although Ramsey's chances of suiting up on Sunday are currently slim, the team hasn't ruled him out yet, so fantasy managers may still hope he plays.

Jalen Ramsey's injury update

The Miami Dolphins are hoping that standout cornerback Jalen Ramsey will recover enough to play Sunday.

Ramsey has missed practice due to a hamstring injury, but the team has not ruled him out yet, so there is hope that he will be able to participate.

Mike McDaniel declined to give a direct answer on Wednesday.

"I'm very proud of him," McDaniel said. "I've never been more proud of a player not practicing. He knows how important he is to the team and what he's looking for to accomplish with the team as a captain. I don't really forecast that, but I know he's doing everything he can today and there weren't any setbacks today."

Ramsey is a seven-time Pro Bowler with 117 NFL starts under his belt. He and the Dolphins reached an agreement on Friday to extend his contract by three years, a deal worth over $72.3 million. According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Ramsey will become the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL for the second time in his career, with a annual salary of $24.1 million.

Ethan Bonner is expected to start for the Dolphins against the Jaguars on Sunday if Ramsey is unable to play. Bonner moved up the team's depth chart very rapidly despite just seeing 11 defensive snaps as a rookie in 2023.

Sunday afternoon's game between the Dolphins and Jaguars is set to begin at 1 p.m. EDT.
