Jameis Winston or Jared Goff: Who is a better pick?

The Detroit Lions' quarterback Jared Goff has received a lot of blame for his team's embarrassing defeats this season because he hasn't performed well. Lions' offensive unit has scored just six points in its last two matches, and several factors are responsible for that.

After seven weeks, the NFL average for quarterbacks with at least 100 snaps is slightly under 7.5 air yards per attempt. Goff's current rate is 8.04. However, the difference between the first four matches and the latter two is significantly skewed.

During their first four games, Detroit's offensive productivity was among the most powerful in the NFL. It topped the league in scoring. Jared Goff's lowest air yards per attempt average over those contests was 8.03. However, Detroit has only mustered two field goals and no touchdowns in its last two matches.

Jared Goff is still a stronger selection than Jameis Winston for Week 8 despite the former and his team's recent offensive difficulties.

According to Dennis Allen, Winston, who has experienced back and ankle difficulties, is now back fit. Wednesday was a full training day for him. For the Week 8 matchup with the Raiders, the team will continue to start Andy Dalton.

Winston had thrown five interceptions and only four touchdowns before getting hurt in his previous three games. He will be Dalton's backup this week.

Winston is not a solid Week 8 choice because he is yet to be involved in any games since Week 3 due to a back and ankle problem.

Even if he is eligible to play this week when they come up against the Raiders, he won't get the call. Andy Dalton would make another start and develop into a viable alternative on the waiver wire.

For fantasy owners scrambling at the bottom for a serviceable QB in Week 8, the Saints QB conundrum will be one to watch.

Jared Goff and Jameis Winston's fantasy potential for Week 8

The Week 8 opponent for Jared Goff is pretty decent. Through Week 7, Miami Dolphins allowed the fourth-most passing yards. Nearly 68 percent of the passes made by the Dolphins' opposition were completed, which ranks eighth in the league.

If St. Brown is back in the lineup against a Miami team that can be defeated, Goff should have a dose of ceiling appeal in Week 8.

Jameis Winston has only recently completed a full recovery from an ailment that has seen him miss out in action since the third game. Given that the Saints have lost the last two matches that Dalton has played, most of us anticipate Winston taking over as the team's starting quarterback very soon.

Winston's comeback may help the 2-5 Saints remain in contention, considering they are only one game behind the NFC South train wreck.

Jameis Winston's situation is still unclear and is best avoided, if at all possible, in a fantasy setting, given how well Andy Dalton is performing and how many personal injuries he is dealing with.
