When the Browns selected Owusu-Koramoah in the second round of the 2021 draft, many thought he was a first-round prospect. Now, the Browns are paying him what they believe his talent is worth.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah contract breakdown

Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is entering the last year of his rookie contract in 2024. After a Pro Bowl season in 2023, the versatile linebacker has been tipped to play an even bigger role in Jim Schwartz's defense this season.

With the exits of stalwarts Sione Takitaki and Anthony Walker Jr., the load of responsibility on Owusu-Koramoah's shoulder has increased. For this reason, it's not a surprise that the Browns have offered him a lucrative contract extension that will keep him with the club much longer.

Owusu-Koramoah and the Browns agreed to a three-year contract extension on Wednesday that is reportedly worth $39 million, with $25 million guaranteed. Overall, it appears to be a good deal for the prospective 24-year-old superstar.

With veteran defensive end Myles Garrett at the forefront, the Browns fielded one of the league's top defenses the previous season. However, Owusu-Koramoah and other younger defensive players provided some assistance for Garrett.

Owusu-Koramoah has 166 solo tackles, 5 forced fumbles, 10 quarterback hits and 2 interceptions in 41 career games for the Browns.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah career earnings

As he prepares to enter his fourth season in the NFL in 2024, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is beginning to live up to the potential that the Cleveland Browns saw in him. They selected him with the 52nd overall choice in the 2021 draft. He has now been awarded a contract extension that fits his trajectory as a player.

Owusu-Koramoah signed a four-year, $6.4 million contract with the Browns following his arrival in the league in 2021. The agreement contained a $3.02 million guaranteed payment, a signing bonus of $2.06 million, and an average salary of $1.6 million per year.

In his three complete NFL seasons to date, the former Notre Dame linebacker has made $4.93 million in career earnings, according to Spotrac.

Owusu-Koramoah had 101 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, 20 tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, six passes defensed and his first two career interceptions last campaign. The linebacker wants to establish himself even more in Cleveland this upcoming season.
