The New York Jets have made a quarterback change and are benching quarterback Zach Wilson for backup Mike White.

The Jets' players were informed early Wednesday morning that Wilson was going to be benched and head coach Robert Saleh addressed the media shortly after.

This comes after Wilson's horrendous game vs. the New England Patriots, where the Jets lost 10-3 in a very uneventful game. Wilson completed nine out of 22 passes for only 77 yards while also throwing no touchdowns.

Wilson hasn't just had a bad game, he has been playing terribly all season. Despite his 5-2 record, he has a quarterback rating of 75.5 He has completed 55.6 percent of passes and only has 1,279 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Many believe the Jets have been carried by their defense as they boast a 6-4 record.

White will start this Sunday vs. the Chicago Bears. This will be his fourth career start as he is 1-2 as a starter and has also appeared in another game.

In his NFL debut in week seven of the 2021 season, White filled in for an injured Zach Wilson and finished the game with 202 passing yards, one touchdown, and 2 interceptions.

He started the next week vs. the Cincinnati Bengals and earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week as he recorded 37 of 45 passes for 405 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.

Veteran Joe Flacco will serve as White's backup as Wilson will be a healthy inactive.

White has the chance to potentially become the Jets starting quarterback potentially with a good performance. We could possibly have seen the last of Zach Wilson this season.

Zach Wilson's time with the New York Jets could come to an end soon

As a rookie, he didn't have a good first season. He went 3-10 as the starter, throwing nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions while having a passer rating of 69.7.

Many thought Wilson would show signs of improvement in his second year, but through the seven games played thus far, he has shown no signs.

The benching could be temporary or permanent, but it's never a good thing to be benched. Sunday's game vs. the Bears will be big for Mike White, and it could impact the rest of Wilson's career.
