“Jets should be worried”- Emmanuel Acho outlines how impending Aaron Rodgers trade could backfire them

It's clear that Aaron Rodgers will be a New York Jets member soon, but until the deal is done, no fan should celebrate the fact that he wants to play for the team because it doesn't guarantee anything.

The Packers will not release him by any means, and even if they have already pivoted to Jordan Love, there is still a scenario where Rodgers is not traded, Green Bay activates his option bonus, and he stays on the roster for the 2022 season.

Here's exactly what Emmanuel Acho has warned the Jets about what could happen:

"I want to say why I think the Jets should be nervous, I was thinking about this we all assumed the Jets are going to land him, but that assumption is dangerous. Maybe it's a coincidence, but they're acquiring players that they know Aaron Rodgers would want to play with… it's not done until it's done. So you can think you're acquiring all you want your traded Elijah more for a second-round pick congratulations but until Aaron Rodgers is in that building, it is not done. The quarterback is going to be here but, I don't think it's done until it's done. That's why the Jets should be worried just based on my experience."

Jets must avoid repeating Favre's 2008 season with Rodgers

Expectations were extremely high for the team with such a strong defense and Favre joining during the offseason, but they never materialized into a playoff push.

The Jets finished the season 9-7, with the Dolphins and the Patriots (who missed Tom Brady that season due to a knee injury during the season opener) tied at 11-5, while the Bills were 7-9. The main caveat? Buffalo lost all division games while the other three teams finished 4-2.

But they never became as strong a team as one would expect. At 39 years old, Favre finished the season with 22 touchdowns and 22 interceptions, and even worse, he did not return for the 2009 season. He wanted to retire again, and later announced he would sign with the Minnesota Vikings for the 2009 season.

If they do acquire Rodgers, know that he can walk away at any time and get the position ready for the future as well. Just as Favre was 39 when he moved to New York, that's the age Aaron will be if the deal materializes.
