The bye weeks have started in fantasy football, which means that players like Josh Downs, Amari Cooper and Tyler Lockett, who are not part of the elite regarding the wide receiver, become even more important for your roster now. Which of these players is a better option for Week 6?

Is Josh Downs a great fantasy pick in Week 6?

This is a player that you should be careful with. First, the Colts' quarterback situation remains fluid, with Anthony Richardson not ruled out of next week; the Titans are not a great defensive team, but they do a great job against wide receivers in fantasy football.

Downs has earned 21 targets in the past two weeks, but he's not WR1 in Indianapolis yet and the quarterback situation is unclear. The bust potential is high here, so fade him as much as you can.

Is Amari Cooper a great fantasy pick in Week 6?

On the other hand, Cooper looks like a player that you should fade by all accounts until you check his individual situation. Yes, Deshaun Watson is a mess of a quarterback right now, but Amari Cooper has still gotten 30 targets over the past three weeks, which is a massive number.

The Browns will play the Philadelphia Eagles, who have been struggling to defend the passing game in 2024 and provide a favorable matchup. If Watson is on a better day, Cooper could be a big surprise in Week 6 and explode – even if he doesn't, his target volume makes him an enticing option.

Is Tyler Lockett a great fantasy pick in Week 6?

The veteran Seahawks receiver has been the most consistent of the trio this season, but at the same time, his volume is a bit capped. DK Metcalf is the go-to guy in big plays and in the red zone, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba has taken the WR2 role and gotten more volume than Lockett.

Playing against the San Francisco 49ers, a team that loves to establish the run, everything points to Lockett not getting enough targets in Week 6, making his value low for this specific matchup. Avoid starting him if you can.

Unsurprisingly, the best option for Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Optimizer is Amari Cooper, the only WR1 on the list and the one with a favorable matchup.

Downs is still worth a FLEX option in case you are struggling with the byes, but when analyzing the trio, there's no doubt about who you should start.
