Indianapolis Colts wideout Josh Downs is dealing with an ankle injury, and his status for Week 1 against the Houston Texans has been in constant doubt. Downs, a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, had a promising rookie season and is a part of many fantasy football teams.
The Kansas City Chiefs kicked off the new NFL season with a 27-20 win against the Baltimore Ravens. The Green Bay Packers will face the Philadelphia Eagles tonight in Brazil in what promises to be another thrilling game.
The majority of teams, including the Colts, will play their first game of the season on Sunday. It will give enough time for the fantasy football managers to make decisions for this week.

Josh Downs' injury update
As per reports, Josh Downs will not play in the Colts' season opener against the Texans. The wideout has not recovered from his ankle injury and didn't practice this week.
Downs suffered the injury in a practice session last month. In his absence, other receivers like Adonai Mitchell and Alec Pierce will look to contribute and help veteran wideout Michael Pittman Jr.
Apart from Downs, the rest of the Colts' starters on offense are expected to play on Sunday. It will be a big game for Anthony Richardson, who could make a name for himself against C.J. Stroud.
Should Fantasy Managers be worried about Colts WR?
Josh Downs' ankle injury is not considered to be serious, or else he would have been put on the injured reserve. As a result, he could be back as soon as Week 2, and fantasy football managers should not look to drop him so early in the season.
In his rookie season, Downs had 68 receptions for 771 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 11.3 yards per reception. With the entire offense surrounding him healthy, Downs has the potential to have a big year for the Colts and is a valuable asset to have on your fantasy football bench.
The Colts don't have an easy schedule to begin the season, but based on what we saw from Richardson and Shane Steichen last year, the team's receivers might still be very successful.
