Josh Palmer's fantasy outlook: Should you start the Chargers WR in Week 10?

Josh Palmer was the sole wide receiver available on the Los Angeles Chargers' Week 9 roster. As usual, he did an excellent job of delivering. Palmer broke this campaign's 100-yard mark for the first time by catching eight of his 10 targets for a total of 106 yards. Palmer has now appeared in the top 24 real wide receivers for two straight games.

Given that Keenan Allen and Mike Williams will almost certainly be absent this week, anticipate another strong showing from Josh Palmer. Palmer should be in your lineup, since the San Francisco 49ers have allowed opponents' wide receivers to average 28.1 fantasy points per game this season. They rank 12th-worst in the league in this category.

Josh Palmer's stats and fantasy prediction

Josh Palmer missed Week 7 because of an injury and the Chargers had a bye in Week 8. Consequently, it will be interesting to see if he can maintain this sequence of fine form or if it's simply a fluke.

Allen and Williams' absences due to injuries have made Palmer the main target of quarterback Justin Herbert. Prior to the bye, he recorded nine receptions for 57 yards, enough for a WR2 finish. The week before, he recorded eight receptions for 106 yards, enough for a WR1 finish.

In Week 11, Williams is still injured and it would be unexpected if Allen made a comeback given his slow-healing hamstring problems. Based on that and his effectiveness last week, Josh Palmer is a reliable option for the Los Angeles Chargers and your fantasy team.

Palmer and Herbert have developed good chemistry this season. He fills in well, but only as long as Allen and Williams are out of action. If one of the two primary wideouts returns, he will still have flex potential.

He has seen at least eight targets in four weeks this season and at least 13 points (PPR) in each of those games. Palmer should continue to have high targets this week, which is exciting considering his potential for productivity. He seems unlikely to have a huge points haul, but looks a dependable WR2 option in Week 10.
