The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 8-0 after beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday. In Week 10, they will play the Denver Broncos at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in an attempt to improve their season record to 9-0.
The Chiefs' injury situation has improved over the week, and they now appear to be in a strong position to play a divisional opponent and maintain their undefeated start to the season.
Kansas City fans will be relieved that the key players who appeared on the injury report during the week are not carrying any injury designations going into the weekend, even though one player has already been ruled out for the Week 10 matchup.
A look at the Chiefs' final injury report
The only player who has been ruled out for the Kansas City Chiefs for their home game against the Denver Broncos in Week 10 is wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring).
Defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton is dealing with a knee injury and was a nonparticipant in all the practices the Chiefs held in the week. He was given a questionable tag on the team's final injury report on Friday.
Other Chiefs players that popped up on the injury report throughout the week, including wide receiver Mecole Hardman (shoulder/knee), running back Kareem Hunt (quad), defensive end Michael Danna (pectoral), quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle) and others, are not carrying any injury designation into the Sunday afternoon game.
JuJu Smith-Schuster injury update
Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has been sidelined by a right hamstring injury since his stellar performance against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5, where he recorded seven receptions for 130 yards.
Smith-Schuster hasn't taken part in any practice sessions since sustaining that hamstring injury. It wasn't surprising when he was declared out to play in Week 10 on Friday since he was also DNP in every practice the team had during the week.
With WR DeAndre Hopkins acquired by the Chiefs through trade, the team's receiving corps currently consists of Hopkins, Mecole Hardman, Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson.
Patrick Mahomes injury update
In Monday night's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a near-injury scare. Despite the injury, the three-time Super Bowl champion didn't miss a single snap throughout the game.
Mahomes was listed on the Chiefs' injury report to start the practice week on Wednesday, even though he was able to play after the injury scare last week.
However, Mahomes logged three full practice participations in the week and is currently not an injury doubt for Sunday's matchup.
Mecole Hardman injury update
Mecole Hardman, who suffered an injury during last week's game against the Bucs, was cleared to play again after being checked in the locker room.
Hardman was limited in the first two practices the Chiefs held on Wednesday and Thursday, but he has now been cleared to play in Week 10 after logging full practice participation on Friday.
