The Kansas City vs. Houston Texans duel started with both teams failing to find the end zone after smooth drives. Harrison Butker hit a 32-yard field goal to open the scoreboard at 13:58 and give the Chiefs the 3-0 lead.
The next two drives ended the same way, with Kaimi Fairbairn first hitting a 30-yard field goal to tie the game. Butker extended the Chiefs' lead the following drive with a 36-yard kick.

Fairbairn missed a 55-yard attempt at 7:01 in the second quarter, which was followed by the first touchdown of the game. Kareem Hunt found the end zone with a one-yard run to give the defending champions the 13-3 lead.
Kaimi Fairbairn connected a 48-yard field goal to cut the lead to 13-6 ahead of halftime.
The Houston Texans showed signs of life in the third quarter, with Joe Mixon scoring with a 13-yard rushing touchdown. Ka'imi Fairbairn missed the second kick of the night, failing to tie the gam for the Texans.

After that moment, the Chiefs dominated on both ends of the field, first with a 11-yard Travis Kelce touchdown. Harrison Butker extended the lead to 20-12 with the extra point kick.
Later on, Butker connected a 27-yard field goal to extend the lead the 23-12, putting the Texans in a complex position. C.J. Stroud tried to make a heroic comeback late in the fourth quarter, but the Chiefs' defense and special teams stopped him.
