The Baltimore Ravens placed running back Keaton Mitchell on the physically unable to perform list, which means he is out for the first few weeks of the 2024 season. Mitchell is set to enter his second season with the Ravens as the running back signed as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

In his rookie season, Mitchell was a bright spot for the Ravens, who dealt with plenty of injuries to the running back room last season.

However, Ravens coach John Harbaugh has said throughout the camp that the running back will return at some point during the season.

"But I will say he's on schedule, maybe ahead of schedule. He's doing really well," Harbaugh said, via the BaltimoreRavens website. "He's always got a smile on his face. He's going to start jogging on the Alter-G (treadmill) next week. So that's a positive thing and we'll see where it goes."

Mitchell is still recovering from a torn ACL in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Dec. 17.

Should fantasy managers be worried about Keaton Mitchell?

Fantasy managers should be worried about Keaton Mitchell, as there is no timeline for his return. However, Mitchell is projected to go undrafted in fantasy leagues, so he is someone who fantasy managers can look to pick up in free agency when his return is announced.

Mitchell did have a solid rookie season as he rushed for 384 yards on 47 carries and two touchdowns. But Mitchell will have a harder time getting on the field or making meaningful reps this season, as Baltimore went out and signed Derrick Henry in free agency to be its starting running back.

Henry has proven to be durable and is one of the best running backs in the NFL. So, Mitchell's pathway to carries will be limited, while Baltimore also has Justice Hill as the backup, so once healthy, the undrafted free agent will be in a battle for the backup running back spot.
