Lamar Jackson injury update: Return timeline for the Ravens QB

Denver Broncos v Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens gets taken into the medical tent in the first half of a game against the Denver Broncos

Lamar Jackson took part in neither the practice on Tuesday nor the one on Wednesday. This past weekend, the Baltimore Ravens faced the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Jackson sat out his first game of the campaign. Tyler Huntley filled in at quarterback as the Ravens won 16-14.

Huntley left the game early after being given a concussion diagnosis. Still, he appeared to be moving in the right direction through the league's five-step procedure. He participated in the workouts on Tuesday and Wednesday. Jackson missed his fifth straight practice and is not expected to play in Cleveland on Saturday.

The Ravens will start rookie Anthony Brown if Jackson and Huntley can't play.

As per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jackson's recovery may take one to three weeks. The team have not formally remarked on the quarterback's condition for the Week 15 game. Their injury reports also cast doubt on his likelihood of returning on Christmas Eve against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Ravens won't make an announcement regarding Jackson's participation in the game until closer to matchday.

How important is Lamar Jackson to the Baltimore Ravens?

The Ravens' system relies heavily on Lamar Jackson. Due to an ankle injury, he didn't play in the last four games of the previous season and Baltimore went 0-4 without him.

In this campaign, Jackson has completed 62.3% of his throws for 2,242 yards, 17 TDs, and 7 interceptions. He has rushed for 764 yards and three touchdowns, making him the team's top ball carrier.

The Ravens' game on Christmas Eve against the Atlanta Falcons is Jackson's most likely comeback date, but it could be later. At the very least, Lamar Jackson may not be 100% for the remainder of the regular season.

After the Ravens defeated the Denver Broncos 10-9, coach John Harbaugh told reporters that Jackson's injury would keep him out for "days to weeks." He described Jackson's knee injury as "not a season-ending type of knee."

As to whether this is the case will be revealed in time.
