Leonard Fournette is a professional running back. who features in the National Football League (NFL). Fournette was drafted into the NFL as the fourth overall pick of the 2017 Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was selected after a fruitful college career with the LSU Tigers and contribute to the ailing Jaguars franchise immediately.

He did just that in his time with the Jaguars and developed a reputation for being a solid two-way running back threat. He spent three years with the Jaguars before moving to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fournette joined the league fresh out of college in 2017 when he signed a four-year, $27 million contract plus a $18 million signing bonus. His contract was the highest that any rookie running back signed in the NFL at that point, and it signaled the beginning of his highlight-reel-filled NFL career.

Fournette had a decent start to his NFL career, as he helped keep the Jaguars side competitive and even made the NFL Top 100 Players List in 2018. The franchise declined the fifth-year option on Fournett.

Following his time with the Jaguars, Fournette signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers worth $2.5 million for the season. He proved to be worth the money and then helped the Bucs to a Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020. He was astonishing in the playoffs, earning the nickname Playoff Lenny.

After his first season, Fournette signed yet another one-year deal, this time worth $3.25 million. He had an injury-riddled second season (2021) with the Bucs but still contributed to their divisional round run for the season.

After the Bucs' elimination against eventual Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams, Fournette penned a new, improved three-year, $21 million contract with the franchise.

This contract was meant to signify the Bucs' trust in Fournette as their undisputed running back for the foreseeable future. However, the 2022 season didn't go as expected, with the Bucs getting eliminated in the Wildcard round. Leonard Fournette's contract looks set to be terminated in a few weeks, and the LSU alum will be looking for a new team.
