Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown appeared to have suffered a significant injury during Saturday night's preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, it doesn't appear like the injury is as serious as first feared.

Brown was immediately taken to the sidelines after he sustained what looked like a shoulder injury before he was eventually taken to the locker room. He was later declared questionable to return.

Brown sent a positive message on social media to Chiefs fans following that game.

"God makes no mistake," he wrote.

Kansas City coach Andy Reid gave a quick report on the wideout following the game. He said Brown’s injury is a sternoclavicular injury, similar to what Tyreek Hill also sustained in 2019 while playing for the Chiefs.

"As far as the injuries go, Hollywood Brown has that same thing that Tyreek had down here, actually," Reid said. "Post-dislocation of the sternoclavicle. He's been brought to the hospital. They are currently working on that and will check him out."

Hill also dislocated his sternoclavicular joint against the Jaguars in 2019, an injury that caused him to miss four games.

After being admitted to the hospital for proper care, Hollywood Brown was released from the hospital and given the all-clear to return to Kansas City, according to a story published on Sunday morning by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Jesse Morse, a health and fitness specialist, estimates that Brown will be back on the field in four to six weeks. Because of this, the Chiefs will be even more dependent on players like Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice during the preseason and early part of the season.

Brown signed a one-year contract in free agency with the Kansas City Chiefs. The veteran WR had a dismal season last year with the Arizona Cardinals, finishing with 574 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games. He will be hoping for a rebound year in 2024.

Marquise Brown injury status: What happened to the Chiefs' WR?

Wide receiver Marquise Brown of the Kansas City Chiefs left the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night due to a left shoulder injury after the first play of their preseason opener. It looked as though the 27-year-old receiver had fractured his collarbone, casting doubt on his availability for the beginning of the regular season.

The wideout caught an 11-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes over the middle of the field before he was tackled to the ground by cornerback Montaric Brown. He then landed on the ground on his left shoulder.

Brown was attended to on the sidelines before departing the field. Later on, the Chiefs revealed that Brown had been sent to a nearby hospital due to a dislocation of his sternoclavicular joint.

Doctor of Health and Wellbeing Jesse Morse thinks Brown dislocated his sternoclavicular bone. Morse said the receiver won't require surgery since he was discharged from the hospital this morning.
