Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd hurt his hamstring during Saturday's preseason game against the Cleveland Browns. The running back has had a difficult summer after first missing time due to a hip ailment earlier in training camp.

Lloyd, selected by the Packers in the third round of the 2024 draft, has been tipped to take over as the RB2 behind Josh Jacobs. Emmanuel Wilson could now get increased playing time in the meantime as the Packers' third-string running back behind Jacobs and AJ Dillon.

It's still unknown how serious Lloyd's injury is and when he'll be able to return. A grade 1 hamstring would require the rookie to miss about two weeks of action, according to MD Jesse Morse, a health and wellness physician who frequently shares his medical knowledge online with football fans.

Tom Silverstein reported that after the Browns game, MarShawn Lloyd informed a group of reporters that he had been persevering with that hamstring injury throughout training camp.

Lloyd was chosen as the 88th overall choice in the 2024 NFL draft after leading South Carolina and USC in rushing in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

The Green Bay Packers enjoyed a 23-10 win over the Cleveland Browns in their preseason opener on Saturday. The Packers revealed after the game that MarShawn Lloyd, their rookie running back, had to leave the game due to a hamstring injury.

Lloyd drew just two touches before exiting the field against the Browns. While carrying the ball in the second half, he used his mobility to create a clever eight-yard gain. However, he asked to be substituted from the game immediately after that run.

"I think he (Lloyd) had two touches before leaving,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur stated on Sunday. "That is disappointing. We've seen what he can do in practice, but you'd want to see it in a real game, so he's going to need to get healthy.”

The Packers will probably have Lloyd undergo more tests before determining the extent of the injury.

This is MarShawn Lloyd's second injury since training camp began, although there are currently no additional details available on the seriousness of the ailment. The Packers, who intend to use the running back as their second wide receiver this season after Josh Jacobs, are undoubtedly concerned about this.
