Mike Williams or Allen Lazard: Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em outlook for Jets WRs in Week 5

The New York Jets will line up against the Minnesota Vikings a few hours from now in what will serve as the NFL's earliest kickoff this week. The game will kick off from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London at 9:30 am (Eastern) so be sure to set your fantasy lineups well in advance.

As the Jets look to rebound from a nightmare 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos where the offense huffed and puffed and had little to show for it, here's everything you need to know about the Jets' WR duo of Mike Williams and Allen Lazard.

Mike Williams fantasy outlook for Week 5

We're not that enthusiastic about Williams' fantasy outlook this week. This Jets offense should be firing on all cylinders and while we all know that Garrett Wilson is the undoubted alpha in this receiving corps, Mike Williams was expected to lighten the burden on the Jets' WR1.

Across four weeks of football, that's not how things have played out.

The Jets have made sure to slowly ramp up his targets as the weeks go on and Williams had a more encouraging showing against Denver, hauling in four of his five targets for 67 yards.

The problem is we haven't seen the chemistry build with Aaron Rodgers. Williams is a physically gifted playmaker and hauled in a stunning catch against Denver last week but you'd have to think twice before betting on him for points this week.

Allen Lazard fantasy outlook for Week 5

Now here's where the money is.

Lazard has been in the thick of things in this Jets offense since Week 1. Through four weeks of football, he has brought in 16 of his 24 targets for 206 yards and three touchdowns.

Last week against Denver with the rain playing spoilsport, Lazard still had eight targets; an encouraging sign of his growing stature in this offense.

With four teams on a bye this week, Lazard is a more intriguing choice between the two.

What's also more encouraging is that Minnesota has surrendered the fourth-most fantasy points per game to WRs (35.6) and gave up 37 or more in back-to-back games.

Mike Williams or Allen Lazard: Final verdict

Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Optimizer has the two wide receivers neck-and-neck this week but we're inclined to disagree a little.

While the optimizer has Lazard ahead by a hair, we expect him to score a few more points this week as the Jets look to get the offense humming in London.
