Miles Sanders' NFL career could have gone smoother had it been injury free. The running back, who recently signed a four-year contract with the Carolina Panthers worth $25 million, has battled several injuries in his four seasons in the league.

Drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles as the 53rd overall pick in 2019, his rookie year is the only injury-free season for the Penn State Nittany Lions alum. It was the only time the running back wasn't on the Eagles' injury list during the league year.

Miles Sanders' injury history

After an injury-free rookie season, Sanders suffered a hamstring injury in August 2020 during preseason camp, which kept him out of the week one game against the Washington Commanders. His next injury didn't take long in coming; he suffered a knee injury in October 2020 against the Baltimore Ravens, which kept him out fortwo games.

Sanders would then miss the final game of the 2020 season due to another knee injury in December. The knee injury streak extended to the playoffs, as he had another in the wild-card loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The pattern continued into the 2021 season, as he suffered an ankle injury in a week seven game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

It started to look like the 2021 season would be a repeat of 2020 when he suffered two more knee injuries in November and December, but he didn't miss any games. Nonetheless, a broken arm in December saw him miss two games. The 2022 season brought him good tides, as he was only injured during the practice weeks.

Roundup of Sanders' injuries

Miles Sanders has had nine injuries during his NFL career. Three of them were in the knee, where he had a patella sprain twice and an MCL sprain. He has also suffered ankle injuries on three occasions.

The thigh is also a point of concern for the running back, as he has suffered hamstring injuries twice. The only uncommon injury for Sanders was the metacarpal fracture he had in week 16 of the 2021 season against the New York Giants.

Miles Sanders had no injuries throughout the regular season or the 2022 playoffs, but his injury history will be concerning for the Panthers. He has suffered three injuries in December, two in October and one in preseason in August.
