Aaron Rodgers has officially been a Pittsburgh Steeler for only two days, but he is already bonding with his new team. On Monday, the multiple-time MVP, who will be playing on a one-year, $13.65-million contract, was spotted hanging out with wide receiver DK Metcalf during the ‘Irons for Impact’ charity golf event hosted by defensive lineman Cam Heyward (image courtesy of Taylor Ollason):
Besides those three, current Steelers players in attendance included wide receiver Calvin Austin III; tight ends Pat Freiermuth and Connor Heyward; defensive linemen Keeanu Benton and Derrick Harmon; linebackers Nick Herbig and Payton Wilson; and kicker Chris Boswell.

Former players in attendance included Charlie Batch, defensive end Brett Keisel, and linebacker Joey Porter Sr.

Stephen A. Smith warns Steelers about snubbing Shedeur Sanders for Aaron Rodgers
The Aaron Rodgers signing seems to have resolved the Steelers' biggest dilemma of the 2025 season, but it might have been very different in another timeline.
In the lead-up to the draft, the franchise was once thought to be an ideal destination for Shedeur Sanders if he fell outside the Top 10, let alone Top 5 or 3. But with their 21st pick, they opted to bolster their defensive line by selecting Derrick Harmon.
The Colorado alum eventually fell to the fifth round, where he was selected by the Cleveland Browns. And Stephen A. Smith already has his thoughts on the potential regret this may cause. Speaking on his eponymous show/podcast recently, he said (Timestamp: 01:22):
"If that damn Shedeur Sanders... wins this job and he's the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns and he goes out there and he balls, I am going to be pissed because the Steelrs could've drafted him."
Back in May, former offensive lineman and current CBS analyst Ross Tucker claimed that Rodgers had given the organization an ultimatum - do not draft Sanders; otherwise, he would not commit:
"He doesn't want to deal with that. He's 40-something years old... Aaron doesn't want, the first time he has a bad game, people calling for the Steelers to put Shedeur Sanders in."
They did eventually draft a quarterback in the sixth round - Ohio State's Will Howard.
