One of the most interesting cases in the 2024 NFL Draft is Brock Bowers, the superstar Georgia tight end who's set to go in the first round due to his immense potential - but nobody knows how early he'll go due to positional value and a quarterback run at the top of the class.
One of the earliest spots where Bowers is considered a possibility is at pick #10, with the New York Jets out of the quarterback run and looking for playmakers to bolster Aaron Rodgers' comeback season. And on a press conference on Friday before the Draft, Jets general manager Joe Douglas spoke about Bowers, perhaps hinting that the team is looking at possibly adding him:
“There’s a tight end who is a Swiss Army knife and can really stress a defense. The right tight end is worth a first-round pick, can be a real weapon.”
Which teams could be after Brock Bowers? Is he an elite prospect?
He was the best offensive player on an undefeated two-time national championship team - and who had just one loss the year after. This speaks volumes about how complete he is, with emphasis on his speed, creating spaces through the zones of the opposing defenses and his ability to grab yards after reception.
So which teams could be looking after him? Apart from the Jets, of course, the Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts jump as two options.
Let's try to think a little outside the box. Bowers is an excellent prospect, Noah Fant isn't really effective and Mike Macdonald wants to make the Seahawks' passing game more dangerous. It'd be really fun to see this group. Brock is a fine example of a modern prospect at the position: extremely efficient as a receiver and producing after the catch. It would be intriguing.
The Colts live an eternal cycle of adding new players in the tight end position and never finding a definitive solution. Brock is arguably the best position player in this class, and will fit like a glove on a team picking at #15 - the positional value makes the Colts' situation easier and provides a reliable weapon for the continued development of Anthony Richardson.
