Sha'Carri Richardson, who won a gold medal for the USA in the 4x100m relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was present on Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys faced the Atlanta Falcons.
A Dallas native, Richardson turned heads when she screamed the Atlanta Falcons' rallying cry, "Rise Up," as she appeared on the jumbotron.
When her fellow sprinter, Christian Coleman, who accompanied her to the game, posted the moment on an Instagram story, Richardson reposted the video and referred to the Falcons as her “step team.”
The Falcons posted about Richardson's presence at the game as well.
Sha'Carri Richardson's fellow sprinter Christian Coleman is an Atlanta native
Sprinter Christian Coleman is from Atlanta, Georgia. So, since Sha'Carri Richardson hailed the Falcons, it gave him a thrill to see her backing his home team.
Not many people are aware that Coleman was an all-state high school football player apart from competing in track and field for Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School in Fayetteville. He played defensive back (DB) and wide receiver (WR).
Off the field, Sha'Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman become the latest Olympic gold medalists to join the NFL fandom alongside 11-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, who is married to Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens.
As for the game, Dallas lost the Week 9 clash, which helped Atlanta improve its season record to 6-3, a mark the Falcons haven't hit since 2016.
For the Cowboys, the game was full of heartbreaks. From Mike McCarthy's fake punt attempt to QB Dak Prescott's hamstring injury, situations did not favor the team.
One of the top highlights of the game was the Falcons’ spot-on performance in the red zone (3-for-3), which improved their conversion rate to 57.1% this season.
The team will face division rival the New Orleans Saints next in Week 10.
