Nick Chubb's seven-year career with the Cleveland Browns ended after the 2024 NFL season. After the Browns didn't offer him a new deal, he signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Houston Texans, potentially increasing to $5 million on Tuesday.
After being drafted out of Georgia with the No. 35 pick in 2018, Chubb became one of the best players in Cleveland. Upon his arrival at the AFC South franchise, the quarterback shared a lengthy farewell message to his old franchise and fans on Instagram on Friday.
“7 years.

“That’s more than just time - it’s where I grew roots, found a home, and felt a love like nowhere else. Cleveland, you didn’t just embrace me; you became family.

“To every fan who cheered, shouted, and believed- you gave me purpose. To this city, with its grit, heart, and unforgettable spirit: you showed me what true community feels like. To my teammates, only we know how hard we fought every day and night. Relentless effort; scratching and clawing, doing all we could to win games, not only for us, but for the city. You guys kept me going everyday and i will never forget my time with you in the building and on the field. I came here to play football, but I’m leaving with so much more- memories that’ll last a lifetime, friendships that changed me, and pride in calling this place home.
Adding that he leaves a family behind, Nick Chubb went on to say the Browns will eventually find success.
“This isn’t goodbye to what we built; it’s a thank you. For the trust, the passion, and the moments that made me feel like I belonged here from day one. Cleveland, you’ll always have a piece of my heart. Until we meet again. 🤎🦇"
Myles Garrett sends message to Nick Chubb
Many people paid respect to Nick Chubb in his heartfelt message. Myles Garrett - perhaps the only teammate who competed with him in terms of popularity - wrote a short message to the running back.
"A legend and our brother,” Garrett wrote. “Thank you.”

Chubb played 85 games with the Browns, rushing the ball 1,340 times, racking up 6,843 yards and 31 touchdowns. He was on a remarkable trajectory until a season-ending injury ruined his 2023 campaign and limited him to only eight games in 2024.
The Cleveland Browns are moving on with Jerome Ford and Quinshon Judkins on the backfield, while Chubb joins a Texans team with another star running back in Joe Mixon.
