Aaron Rodgers has lent his support to good friend Nathaniel Hackett after the first-time head coach was given his marching orders after a horror 2022 season. Hackett joined Denver, along with Russell Wilson, in what was a blockbuster offseason at Mile High, but it didn't work out how they envisioned it.
Thought to be a genuine Super Bowl contender, the Broncos wilted under the pressure and could only muster four wins under Hackett. They currently sit at 4-11, after giving up 51 points to Baker Mayfield and the Los Angeles Rams.

Rodgers, speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, lent his support to his former offensive coordinator in Green Bay and stated that, despite his sacking from the Broncos, Hackett still has plenty going for him.
Rodgers said:
“Obviously, it wasn't a great fit in Denver for a number of reasons, and I don't think I need to bring up. But the record is what it was, and the new owner decided to make a change, which is his prerogative. Hacks is still going to get paid, and he's still got an incredible wife and a great family and a lot of things to be proud of. And he's got a great friend in me still.”
Hackett and Wilson experiment doomed in Denver
The offseason was filled with hype and optimism as the flashy offensive-minded head coach and former Super Bowl-winning quarterback joined forces. Thought to be a "good quarterback" away from a Super Bowl run, many had Denver winning the tough AFC West division.
The offense, however, struggled to put up any points in games. If the offense had managed to score just 18 points in five games this year, they would have won those five, and their record would look vastly different.
The defense has been superb, but with Wilson and the offense failing to get anything going, the anger and frustration grew. Thus, it ended with Hackett losing his job.
While Denver has moved on from its head coach, they are "stuck" with Wilson for the foreseeable future, and many hope that the next head coach hired can get Wilson back to being "Russell Wilson."
