Aaron Rodgers rubbishes reports of him joining Raiders

Nobody knows where Aaron Rodgers will play in the 2023 season - or if he'll play. The Green Bay Packers quarterback has a huge cap hit next year, and he needs to make a decision if he'll return to the team. He has already made it clear that he's not going to be part of a rebuilding project.

While Rodgers' indecision is a major topic for this offseason, plenty of speculation has already started. During his weekly appearance on the "Pat McAfee Show", the quarterback made it clear that any report that says he has already agreed to join a team is false:

"I saw a report that Athletes First, my contract representation side, has already said I'm going to the Raiders or something right. I read that the other day. I mean, David Dunn is a dear friend of mine. He's been my agent for 15 years. And we talk pretty frequently. But I haven't talked to him since the end of the season really. I talked to him like two days after the season and haven't had a meaningful conversation with him in over a month now. So the fact that there is any news linking anything to Athletes First and me, hasn't been a conversation. So me, I can tell you straight."

Why are the Las Vegas Raiders favorites to be Rodgers' next team?

For a number of reasons, the move makes sense. They're ready to compete for a championship, have an offensive genius in Josh McDaniels, and have enough salary cap space to make the move after trading Derek Carr.

But none of these factors are more important than the fact that if he goes to Las Vegas, he'll get to play with Davante Adams, one of the league's best receivers and his best friend from his days with the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers and Adams were teammates for eight seasons before Adams was traded to Las Vegas during the 2022 off-season

Other options for the quarterback include a move to the New York Jets and staying with the Green Bay Packers. As he's already 39, his retirement is also an option, but it's not believed that Rodgers will follow this path in 2023.
