The New York Jets are officially out of the Derek Car sweepstakes as the nine-year veteran and ex-Raider inked a four-year deal with the New Orleans Saints today.
The Saints signed Carr to a four-year $150 million deal with $100 million guaranteed. He'll be getting paid $37.5 million a year with New Orleans.
Many had Carr pegged to signing with the Jets. The interest was mutual on both sides and Carr was the frontrunner by many to be the Jets' next quarterback. A report from Matthew Berry today surfaced that Jets owner Woody Johnson really wanted Rodgers, but the rest of the team and the front office wanted Carr.
According to SI journalist Peter King, the Packers are seeking at least two first-round picks for Rodgers. According to King, Johnson would happily pay the price of two firsts to acquire Rodgers.

Reports have been circling around saying that Rodgers does not want to return to Green Bay. Rich Eisen said today that he's heard "over and over again" at the combine that the Packers are hoping Rodgers doesn't want to returk to the team.
If Rodgers wants to play elsewhere, the team will acquire draft picks in return for trading him. If he decides to retire, they won't get anything by losing him, but will focus on having Jordan Love as their starting quarterback.
