On Wednesday, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. suffered a potentially serious injury at practice.
According to ESPN reporter Michael DiRocco, Thomas headed off the field and back to the locker room.

In response, some NFL fans highlighted how they think OTAs and practices this far out from the actual season are an unnecessary risk to player health.

Can Brian Thomas and the Jacksonville Jaguars improve in 2025?
Brian Thomas Jr. was one of the bright spots for the Jacksonville franchise in an otherwise terrible season.
Thomas exploded onto the scene in 2024, establishing himself as one of the best wide receivers in the sport after only one full season in the league. He finished the campaign with 87 receptions for 1,282 yards (third in the NFL) and 10 touchdowns (tied for sixth in the NFL). Thomas earned Pro Bowl and PFWA All-Rookie Team honors.
What made the season even more impressive was the fact that Thomas achieved these stats with a combination of Trevor Lawrence and Mac Jones at quarterback. Lawrence had an injury plagued season, while Jones has shown that he is not a starting QB in the NFL.
This offseason, the Jaguars added to their offensive depth by selecting dual-threat star Travis Hunter with the No. 2 pick in the draft. The addition of another elite playmaker should free up Thomas from defensive double teams.
With a new head coach in Liam Coen, expectations for the Jaguars and Thomas are high heading into the 2025 season.
