The former NFL cornerback, known for both his electrifying play and off-field history, entered a plea of not guilty while letting his attorney take center stage in court.

Jones, 41, made a brief appearance at the Kenton County courthouse, dressed casually and saying little during the hearing. His attorney, Timothy Schneider, represented him during the proceeding. But outside the courtroom, Jones made his sentiments clear, offering a public endorsement by calling Schneider “the best in the world,” as per TMZ on Wednesday.

The charges Jones faces are assaulting a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. These were filed after police responded to a disturbance at a downtown Covington establishment during the early hours of June 7.

Authorities allege Jones was visibly intoxicated and became confrontational during their response, leading to an arrest.

In the days following the arrest, Jones’ representation has publicly pushed back on the narrative offered by police. His longtime agent, Peter Schaffer, issued a statement suggesting the incident may have escalated unnecessarily, calling attention to broader issues around police conduct and due process.

Schaffer criticized Jones’ detention and framed the encounter as an example of law enforcement overreach.

According to the defense, the altercation began when Jones questioned the reason for his detention. They argue that it should never warrant physical restraint or criminal charges.

Although the defense claims Jones was singled out for standing up for his rights, police accounts paint a different picture. Police were summoned to a bar around midnight after a reported altercation between customers and employees.

Upon arrival, they noticed a vehicle exiting the area, in which Jones was in the passenger seat. Authorities say he exhibited clear signs of intoxication and allegedly became combative during the booking process, injuring one officer with an elbow strike.

Jones was held for several hours before posting bond later that morning. Local police emphasized that their actions were in line with standard procedures and denied any targeting or bias.

Adam 'Pacman' Jones was arrested in late 2024 following a disturbance at a hotel that was connected with a high-profile boxing match. He was charged one year earlier with disorderly conduct at a Kentucky airport and received a suspended jail sentence.
