The Denver Broncos have requested permission to speak with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn in relation to their head coach vacancy. This follows them asking permission to speak with former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton,

Quinn becomes the second head coach that the Broncos have requested to speak permission with for their head coach search. They finished the season 5-12, last place in the AFC West division.

Denver fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett on December 26th, a day after their embarrassing loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Day.

They hired Hackett on January 22nd, 2022, to become their next head coach, replacing Vic Fangio. He was 4-11 before the team fired him.

Sean Payton, Jim Harbuagh, Dan Quinn, Eric Bieniemy, and DeMeco Ryans are all top candidates to land a head-coaching gig next season.

Quinn is a candidate to be a head coach next season. This would be the second time in his career that he would become an NFL head coach.

On February 2, 2015, Quinn was hired to be the Atlanta Falcons head coach. He spent six seasons with the team, piling up a 43-42 record. He made two playoff appearances and led the team to the Super Bowl in 2016. They lost to the New England Patriots after blowing a 28-3 lead. He was fired during the 2020 season, after a 0-5 start to the campaign.

With the Broncos searching for their next head coach, quarterback Russell Wilson voiced his opinion. He wanted to make sure Dan Quinn was included with Sean Payton, Jim Harbuagh, and others for coaching rumors:

"Dan Quinn, I know him personally, too. He's an amazing coach as well, an amazing person, an amazing soul, great leader.”

Wilson and Quinn were on the same team together for some years during their time in Seattle.

For now, Quinn will focus on Super Bowl run with the Dallas Cowboys as they gear up and get ready for the playoffs this weekend. After that, who knows?
