Despite the addition of Josh Jacobs to the Green Bay Packers running back room, AJ Dillon remained a solid option for fantasy owners looking to add depth in that position. After a solid 2023 season, Dillon won some fans and was set to earn a spot as the second most important RB on the team before something unexpected happened on Tuesday.
Here's what fantasy owners must know if they're planning to draft Dillon.

Should fantasy managers be worried about Packers RB?
The news about AJ Dillon's health is anything but promising, as his 2024 NFL season finished even before it started. The RB was placed on injured reserve today following a quiet preseason. Dillon re-signed with the Packers on a one-year deal for his fifth season, set to compete for the role as the second most important running back with USC's MarShawn Lloyd.

If you were one of those planning to draft Dillon, it's better to focus on a different player and put this option to rest.
Dillon wasn't known as a touchdown machine and had a different role on the Packers, only scoring 16 rushing yards in four years. ESPN predicted him to go undrafted in most leagues, and his draft rank (378) suggested he wasn't an appealing option for many fantasy owners.
AJ Dillon's injury update
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that AJ Dillon was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday due to neck issues. The team didn't designate him to return, meaning he will be out for the 2024 NFL season. During the year, Dillon dealt with a stinger until the Packers ended his campaign early.
With Lloyd and Emmanuel Wilson playing behind Josh Jacobs, added to his health issues, Dillon didn't have many opportunities to showcase his talents in the 2024 NFL preseason. He carried the ball four times, gaining only two yards.
For his career, Dillon has 597 rushing attempts for 2,498 yards and 16 touchdowns.
This season was expected to be harder for Dillon after sharing touches with Aaron Jones, Jayden Reed and Emanuel Wilson last year. He had another chance to prove his value but another injury ruined his plans. He's only rostered by 1.7% of teams in ESPN Fantasy, a number likely to go down after the latest update on his health.
