Antonio Brown controversy part one: When ex-Buccaneers WR threw a rock at truck driver and was charged with assault

Los Angeles Rams v Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown is no longer in the NFL, but he's made headlines countless times for his actions off the football field. Back in 2020, the former NFL wide receiver was blamed for assaulting a truck driver who was bringing previously stored items to Brown. Official documents claim that Brown didn't want to pay the $4K payment that was due to the driver. He then hurled a rock at the truck as the driver attempted to speed away without unpacking Brown's items.

An ensuing war of words reportedly led the former NFL star to physically hit the driver prior to being held back. Brown's then-trainer, Glenn Holt, supposedly snatched the driver's keys and tried to unload Brown's property. Holt tried to unload Brown's property before the driver re-gained control of the keys, leading to a fight.

Per Chris Bumbaca of USA Today, the driver said he suffered lacerations to his neck, shoulder, stomach, and forearm along with cuts on his finger. Holt was arrested and charged with burglary with battery. According to TMZ, the documents stated that in the end, Brown and his friends got the keys from the driver and unloaded the truck themselves.

However, they caused damage to other clients' property while doing so. Antonio Brown also didn't pay for damage to the vehicle, which included a dent and chipped paint. In June 2020, the seven-time Pro Bowler ultimately reached an agreement with prosecutors.

He was sentenced to probation and other stipulations -- community service hours and an anger management course -- to have the case dismissed. In May of last year, the driver, Anton Tumanov, sued the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star.

What was the outcome of the lawsuit against Antonio Brown?

The former NFL star was ordered to pay Tumanov $1.2 MILLION after he allegedly attacked him back in 2020. As stated in court documents, the jury found the former Pittsburgh Steelers star responsible for $407K due to Tumanov's previous and future medical expenses.
