"Are we supposed to care about a QB's wife?": Ex-ESPN host gives Matthew Stafford's wife reality check over Lions vitriol

Matthew Stafford's wife, Kelly, outraged Detroit Lions fans following her comments ahead of their Sunday Night Football showdown in Week 1. Before the matchup between the Lions and Rams, she said she would skip her husband's game against his former team.

When the Rams faced the Lions in last season's Wild Card, Kelly and her kids attended the game, but the reception they received was less than hospitable.

“I think, you always hear the worst ones. You don’t hear people that are like, thank you for you all you do," Kelly Stafford said at the time.

"You hear the ones that are like, ‘F**k you, Kelly! Obviously, there are a ton of people in a stadium, but that’s what you hear, and that’s what you hold on to and I don’t want to hold onto that. I’d rather watch it at home and remember all the incredible times I had there.”

To protect her kids from irate fans, Kelly decided to watch the game from home. After hearing her complaint, former ESPN host Jonathan Coachman had this to say about her comments:

"Fans can be brutal.... She said, 'I don't feel comfortable going back to Detroit. The fans were not nice to me.' Are we supposed to care about a quarterback's wife and whether or not she feels welcome back? This is the NFL!" (11:17 - 11:44)

According to Coachman, Kelly was making a mountain out of a molehill.

Eventually, Kelly turned up to watch her husband play. She was at the stadium to watch the Rams get humbled by the Lions in a repeat of last season's Wild Card round.

Matthew Stafford's wife addresses "cheater" accusations

In an episode of The Morning After podcast, Kelly spoke about one of her confessions that turned into a social media controversy.

In June, the ex-UGA cheerleader confessed that she dated Matthew Stafford's backup QB in college. Why? So that she could make him jealous after their breakup. However, that did not go down well with fans on social media.

She was not one to take an insult lying down. She instead took the names they hurled at her and titled her tour "Cleat Chaser".

"I was called that after the recent situation and I said, ‘Let’s lean into this.' It turns out it’s not all bad if you’re doing it for the right reasons. If you’re doing it to lock down a man for money or fame, not a fan of that.”

Her tour is set to wrap up in New York City on December 21.
