Former Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Kurt Benkert is still upset that he got cut by the team. He was a member of the Green Bay Packers during the 2021 season before being released on June 17, 2022.

Nearly six months later, Benkert is still upset over being cut from the Packers.

Benkert took to Twitter last night, Dec. 14, and shared a comical joke about him being cut from the team.

The IKE Packers podcast (a popular Packers podcast) tweeted that the Green Bay Packers are the only community-owned professional team in the United States.

Benkert quote tweeted:

"Being a shareholder didn’t stop me from being cut but it looks damn good on the wall."

On May 17, 2021, the Packers signed Benkert. He was elevated to the active roster on Dec. 7, 2021, replacing backup Jordan Love, who was placed on the COVID list.

On Dec. 12, he saw the field for the first and only time in his NFL career. He knelt the ball twice in the closing seconds of a 45–30 win over the Chicago Bears, and recorded -1 rushing yards on two carries.

Speaking of Green Bay Packers backup quarterbacks, could Jordan Love force a trade out of Green Bay this offseason? Multiple reports have surfaced over the past few weeks suggesting that if Aaron Rodgers returns next season, Love will request a trade out of Green Bay.

Love was drafted by the team as their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

GB traded their first-round pick (30th overall) and a fourth-round pick (136th overall) to the Miami Dolphins to move up and select Love.

Love was inactive during this rookie season. In 2021, he made his first career start on Nov. 7, 2021, as Rodgers was placed on the COVID list. He completed 19-of-34 passes for 190 yards, one interception and one touchdown in a loss vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.

Like Rodgers, Love started his career as a backup, but his patience is running thin. Not only does he believe he is a starting quarterback, many executives believe so and could phone the Packers next offseason in a potential deal for the backup if they stick with Rodgers.
