"Broncos might finally win a game now," "Afraid of the Jets" - NFL fans roast Russell Wilson after Broncos announce QB will miss game vs. Jets

The Denver Broncos are in a tailspin to start the 2022 season and Russell Wilson is catching plenty of blame. He showed up and immediately signed a five-year extension, establishing himself as the franchise man in Denver. Unfortunately, his team is off to a 2-4 start.

Russell Wilson's situation gets even worse this week now that he is ruled out for a matchup against the upstart New York Jets. That leaves Brett Rypien as the starter, seemingly dooming the Broncos. However, one fan thinks this may create an opening for the Broncos to actually win.

This may be seen as a harsh take, but it is one shared by others as well. Perhaps he is even afraid of looking awful against the Jets, as one fan humorously claims.

The quarterback is off to an incredibly rough start with five touchdowns and only 1,442 yards in six games. Averaging less than a touchdown per game was not what anyone had in mind once the blockbuster trade was made with the Seattle Seahawks.

Jets fans are even upset that Russell Wilson is out, given his play so far.

Wilson's job is going to be safe no matter how the Week 7 matchup goes against the Jets. He is getting paid too much money to be benched at any point in the next few years, even if fans are comparing Russell Wilson to a quarterback from Denver's past.

He may not be as bad as Tim Tebow, but the stats don't paint a pretty picture. That is why fans in Denver are ready for the experiment to be over just six games in.

Wilson and the Broncos were expected to take part in an AFC West seen as the best division in football. So far, Denver and the Las Vegas Raiders have been massive disappointments, leaving the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers as the top two teams battling it out.

Fans all over the NFL decided to roast Russell Wilson, including one saying that the veteran was secretly benched for the Jets game.

Others are making sure to question the hamstring injury keeping the quarterback out of action at a critical point in Denver's season.

There should be no need to question his true injury status. However, fans are fair to jeer him given the start to the season. The fact that the offense may flow better without him is a serious red flag.

A win on Sunday will help the Broncos as a team, but only complicate things further with their supposed star signal-caller.
