C.J. Stroud's mom Kimberly called out fans who criticized his son's performance on Sunday. The Houston Texans suffered a 26-23 loss to the Detroit Lions despite leading 23-7 at halftime.

The Texans were well on their way to winning the game but they didn't score in the second half and Detroit hit a field goal as time expired.

It was a stunning result, and after the game, fans aimed at Stroud for his performance in the second half. His mom quickly defended him.

"Really?," Kim wrote.

Stroud finished the game going 19-for-33 for 232 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. However, he only threw 68 yards with two interceptions in the second half and completed just 39% of his passes.

According to ESPN, the Texans became the second team since 1933 to lose a game in which they caught five interceptions and led by at least 15.

C.J. Stroud takes blame for Texans loss

After the stunning defeat, C.J. Stroud took the blame and said that he needed to be better, especially in the second half.

"Definitely should have won this game," Stroud said, via ESPN. "My job is to lead the offense to score points, and I didn't do that today. We really should have put them away after the first half. It's really on the offense."

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans also talked about the second half performance. He said that his quarterback should have protected the ball better.

"It's not good enough," Ryans said. "Turning the football over there, especially in the red zone, or coming out. We talked about getting started in the second half, and we talked about being better in the second half. But to come out and turn the ball over on the first play of the second half and to get in the red zone where we have points and to turn the ball over, that's not winning football."

C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans fell to 6-4 on the year but are still on top of the AFC South.

Houston will return to the field next Monday against the Dallas Cowboys.
