Cam Jordan reveals Aaron Rodgers shut down Saints idea before DE could even pitch it

Cameron Jordan revealed in a recent interview that Aaron Rodgers shut down any chance of joining the New Orleans Saints before any recruitment pitch was delivered to him.

Appearing on the "Up & Adams" show on Monday, the Saints defensive end shared a lighthearted take.

Jordan said that he respected Rodgers’ process of retreating from the spotlight each offseason before deciding on his next steps.

"No, no, no, none at all, zero," Jordan said. "And the only reason was, I was like, he normally has his offseason process the last couple years, until he comes out and says something like, 'Hey, I want to play football,' or, 'Hey, I'm out of my three days in a dark cave retreat.'

"Then I see nothing. And then, you know, first thing I heard from him was like, 'hey, yeah, the Saints are not option.' I was like, Oh, well, guess I won't be texting my guy. Wishing well."

Cam Jordan’s comments about Aaron Rodgers came at a time when New Orleans is recalibrating its roster. In March, Jordan agreed to restructure his contract to help the team navigate salary cap challenges.

Jordan is expected to earn a base salary of approximately $6 million, with the potential to add incentives worth another $4 million if he hits certain performance milestones.

As for Rodgers, he finalized his move to Pittsburgh on Friday after a brief stint with the New York Jets. According to Pro Football Talk, the Steelers structured Rodgers' deal in a way that could earn him nearly $20 million with incentives, despite the quarterback initially signaling he’d be willing to play for less. The reported figure is notably below what some other high-profile quarterbacks will command this season.
