Christian McCaffrey trade rumors: Two Super Bowl favorites among teams tipped to make a move for Panthers RB

The sixth-year RB, Christian McCaffrey, put in a strong effort for the Carolina Panthers in their last game, against the Rams, where he totaled 158 yards on 20 touches. The offense's yards from scrimmage comprised 74.5 percent of that total, the second-highest percentage in the NFL during the previous 20 years.

Interestingly, he did all that after being the focus of a swarm of trade speculations earlier in the week. Following trade rumors, the Panthers are reportedly "listening" to proposals for their standout rusher.

However, when questioned about the rumors after the match, McCaffrey claimed he was just concerned with performing his duties for the team he is presently representing.

"All that stuff is out of my hands. I aim to do everything I can for my colleagues while being the best I can be."

The main clubs looking to trade running back Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers include the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, and Philadelphia Eagles.

With a 1-5 start into the season, the Panthers are among the poorest sides in the NFL and might be receiving offers for McCaffrey before the November 1 trade deadline.

The Panthers sacked head coach Matt Rhule the week before. But in Sunday's game against the Rams, they still lost, making them the first NFL franchise with five defeats in a season.

While the Panthers aren't openly looking to trade McCaffrey, NFL Network reports that he "is generating the most substantial interest from teams," compared to Carolina's other available options.

The Panthers and McCaffrey agreed to a four-year, $64 million contract agreement in April 2020, making McCaffrey the highest-paid RB in football. However, he hasn't fulfilled the promises he showed earlier in his career, primarily due to injuries.

Numerous playoff-bound franchises might benefit from having a running back of Christian McCaffrey's quality. One of them are the Rams, as mentioned earlier. Another are the Patriots, particularly in light of last Tuesday's announcement that Damien Harris will likely miss several matches due to a hamstring ailment.

So, let's take a closer look at the teams most likely to make a move for the running back.

Denver Broncos

It's not surprising that one of the clubs interested in Christian McCaffrey are the Broncos. With Javonte Williams out for the rest of the year due to a ruptured ACL, the team will now be led by Mike Boone, Latavius Murray, and Melvin Gordon.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams' circumstances are a little bit distinct. Despite Cam Akers being fit, Darrell Henderson has functioned as the team's leading rushing back. However, due to personal circumstances, Akers missed the last match, and it appears that the seasoned running back could be traded.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo is without a strong playmaker out of the backfield like Christian McCaffrey. According to reports, the Bills have enquired as to McCaffrey's availability. The team currently possess the No. 2 scoring attack and the No. 1 yard-gaining attack in the NFL.

Imagine inserting Christian McCaffrey in place of Devin Singletary. The power of an almost unstoppable force increases.

New England Patriots

Damien Harris and Adrian Stevenson made up the Patriots' strong running back duo. But Harris was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions due to a hamstring problem. This left Stevenson as the team's lone active running back to accumulate 24 touches.

The Patriots could use a boost in the area because Ty Montgomery is currently on injured reserve. Also, youngsters Pierre Strong Jr. and Kevin Harris don't seem prepared enough for the NFL.

Philadelphia Eagles

According to reports, the Eagles have expressed a strong desire for Christian McCaffrey on a few occasions in recent years, but it hasn't panned out. Maybe it will now. It's a big upgrade to pair McCaffrey with Jalen Hurts, and it's even tastier if the Eagles can retain Miles Sanders in the mix despite his injury history.
