Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing in Super Bowl LVII versus Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles. Following the Chiefs' victory in the AFC Title game, Patrick Mahomes' dad, Pat, was celebrating on the field with some cigars. Comedy great D.L. Hughley commented on the Chiefs' quarterback's dad on The Daily Show in a conversation with former NFL star Dominique Foxworth.
Hughley said:
"We also had over the weekend what I believe to be the Blackest moment in playoff history. I don't know if you saw Patrick Mahomes' daddy on the sideline, Patrick Lavon Mahomes' daddy. It sounded so much like my Black uncles, it was. When you say, his middle name? Lavon. Then it's going to be Black. It's the Blackest Super Bowl ever!"
Mahomes' dad was asked about smoking cigars on the field and he gave quite the response:

"I'm smoking on that Joe Burrow. My baby boy did what he always do. He's gonna show up and show out. And I'm just glad he did it."
Mahomes had great reason to celebrate as his son threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns in the 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. The win also marked the first time that the 2018 NFL MVP defeated Joe Burrow as he was 0-3 previously against him. Given his talent, the quarterback learned from his dad at an early age.

Before being drafted by the Chiefs, the superstar signal-caller was drafted in the 2014 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers. It comes as no surprise that Mahomes has an incredible arm, something he likely got from his dad. The Super Bowl LIV MVP grew up around baseball, going around America with his dad, who played 11 seasons in the MLB for six teams.
Overall, the elder Mahomes was a pitcher with a 42-39 record, a 5.47 ERA and 452 strikeouts. He also had 65 saves and 709 total innings in his career.
