Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith has picked up where he left off last season. Through the Eagles' first two games, he's recorded 11 catches on 15 targets for 178 yards and two touchdowns.

Last season, Smith upped his numbers in his second season as he recorded 95 catches for 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns. As a rookie, Smith recorded 64 catches for 916 yards and five touchdowns.

Smith and wide receiver AJ Brown are one of the best one-two wide receiver duos in the NFL. Brown recorded 88 catches for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.

This season, Brown has caught 11 balls for 108 yards. When the two are on the field together, they have a lot of success, as it's hard for teams to zero in on either of them, let alone both of them.

While unexpected things happen all the time in football, there could be a chance that Smith won't be lined up opposite to his compadre this week.

DeVonta Smith was a limited participant in Philly's Thursday practice. According to the Eagles' injury report as of Friday, Smith practiced on a limited basis with a hamstring/thigh injury. He was limited in practice for a second straight day during Friday's practice.

While it isn't the biggest concern, there should be a little bit to worry about, as he was a full participant all of this week.

The Eagles could be resting certain players as it's getting later in the week and closer to game day.

Through his first two seasons and two games of the 2023 season, Smith has yet to miss a game. If he were to miss Monday's night game, that would mark the first time in his NFL career missing a game.

There isn't much information on what exactly happened to DeVonta Smith.

The only information known is that he was listed as limited with a hamstring 'injury'. He wasn't listed as questionable, but Smith's status for Saturday's practice should be a better indicator of whether or not he will play in Week 3.

The Eagles face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night and if Smith is hurt, he will get the benefit of being able to rest another day with their game being played on Monday.

When will DeVonta Smith play?

All signs are pointing to DeVonta Smith playing this week vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.

The Philadelphia Eagles are likely just giving Smith extra rest to make sure he is fresh for Monday night. If Smith is limited in tomorrow's practice or doesn't participate, then it will be more concerning for Eagles fans.

If Smith somehow doesn't suit up this week, there's no reason to believe that he won't play next week.

Both the Eagles and Buccaneers enter Monday night's conference as two of seven NFC teams with a 2-0 record. The Eagles are currently five points road favorites and will look to improve to 3-0.
