Dolphins fans not sold over RB Jaylen Wright pick in 2024 NFL Draft - "Stupid"

NFL Combine
Jaylen Wright was drafted by the Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins had another addition to their running back group on Saturday, with the team using pick #120 to add Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright. The speedy prospect joins a running back group that's known for having players who ran under 4,40s in the 40-yard dash.

As fun as the pick sounds, it's debatable whether Miami really had the need for a running back or if they could've used the pick on another position of need. Getting a player to help the trenches would have been a good idea as well, and even a wide receiver to provide depth for Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Miami Dolphins fans were not excited about the pick, even though Wright is one of the fastest players in the class. The thinking behind getting a running back in the fourth round did not satisfy the fans:

In general, reactions to the pick were not good.

"What are we doing! Why the f*** would we do this. We have the best RB in the AFC, and the rushing TD leader from last year. What are we doing drafting a RB", said another fan.
"The dolphins may have had the worst draft of any team", wrote a Jets fan

NFL fans were also quick to point out that the Dolphins already have Raheem Mostert and Devon Achane

"Not like they have the best RB duo already", another NFL fan wrote.

Dolphins avoid controversy, don't draft Tua Tagovailoa replacement in 2024 draft

Tua is in the final year of his rookie contract, and this was the most important decision of Miami's offseason - even more than the draft. In his first four seasons, he showed plenty of flashes, however, he was unable to show the most important thing to a quarterback: consistency.

They can't just give up on Tua Tagovailoa as they don't have better options at the moment; at the same time, they can't simply make him the highest-paid new quarterback in the league, even with the major salary cap increase that NFL teams weren't expecting.

Distractions were avoided this time, and Tagovailoa will start for them in 2024. But the question mark will remain far beyond the draft.
