Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Drue Tranquill left the Chargers for their AFC West foe, the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Tranquill is signing a one-year deal with the Chiefs to stay in the division. He will face his former team twice next season. Tranquill chose the reigning Super Bowl champions over five other teams, per Schultz.

Tranquill just had the best season of his career. He set career highs in tackles (144), sacks (5.5) and pass breakups (four).

Tranquill was the Chargers' fourth-round pick in the 2019 draft out of Notre Dame. He has recorded 298 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one interception in his career.

The Kansas City Chiefs got Drue Tranquill for a bargain. The team inked him to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million. It's a cheap deal for a guy who recorded over 140 tackles and five sacks last season.

In four seasons with the Chargers, Drue Tranquill has earned $5.1 million. He has the chance to make that much this season with the Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs entered the offseason as one of the team's with the least amount of cap space. They had to make some business decisions by letting Orlando Brown walk in free agency and releasing defensive end Frank Clark.

They replaced Brown by signing former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor. They signed Taylor to a big four-year $80 million deal, making him the NFL's fourth-highest paid tackle.

The team also agreed to terms with former San Francisco 49ers defensive end Charles Omenihu.

The team also lost wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to the New England Patriots.

Drew Tranquill became the newest addition to the team. Along with fellow linebacker Nick Bolton, who had 180 tackles last season, these two have the potential to be one of the league's best linebacker groups.
