Aaron Rodgers came into 2023 with doubts about his playing future. Now it is clear he wants to play again for at least one more year. However, speaking on Get Up, one former NFL general manager - Mike Tannenbaum - pushed the franchise to use money to get him into his second year with the team. Here's how he put it:

"I want this to be at least a two-year marriage given the draft choice compensation. And he's a great player. So I would say to him, look, 60 million a year, we're [aren't] looking for that. Let's make it a two-year deal, fully guaranteed, $120 million, and I want to push as much of that money into a year two as I can..."

Will Aaron Rodgers be in the Big Apple in 2023?

He continued, explaining that the team would pay 25 percent of the $120 million upfront in 2023 and the other 75 percent in 2024:

"I want to structure a contract that really gives us as an organization the best chance possible for him to be there in year two. I would offer him 30 million in year one, 90 million in year two, fully guaranteed... I would do everything within reason to try to get that second year commitment."

With numbers like $30, $60, and $90 million getting thrown around like snowballs, fans may wonder how salaries stack up in the league for 2023. According to Spotrac's ranking in terms of total cash, Aaron Rodgers ranks as the most expensive quarterback in the NFL for 2023 at $59.515 million.

Here's a look at how that compares to the other most expensive quarterbacks in the league. (Hint: it towers over the next closest salary)

Aaron Rodgers$59.515 million
Daniel Jones$40 million
Deshaun Watson$46 million
Patrick Mahomes$40.450 million
Kyler Murray$39 million

Not many would equate the money with the ranking of the skill, reliability, or availability of the top five most expensive quarterbacks in the list above. However, economics doesn't always follow the hardest working or most productive players, as sports repeatedly teaches.
