Dennis Allen's former receiver Michael Thomas was synonymous with the New Orleans Saints from 2016 to 2019, but he largely went silent due to a slew of injury issues. Over the weekend, Thomas was anything but silent. However, his most recent comment was seemingly directed at the Saints.

Taking to social media in the wake of the firing of head coach Dennis Allen, Michael Thomas wrote just three words.

"There it goes," he said.

The statement serves as a de facto period to Thomas' outbursts over the weekend on Twitter/X. In a series of posts, Thomas appeared to call out Derek Carr but left few stones unturned.

"Dude scary and panic and just throw the ball. Get him the f out of here he so a**," he said..
"Dude tried to lie and say I was jealous of them making Chris WR1 whole time he can’t even get him a decent ball. He need his a** whooped," he said.
"They fired all them coaches trying to cover his flaws up he still doing the same s**t," he added.

Thomas' former team lost to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday by a score of 23-22 in Derek Carr's return after missing most of the season. The loss appeared to be the catalyst leading to Allen's exit as the team continued their seven-game losing streak dating back to September.

Exploring Michael Thomas' production under Dennis Allen

The former New Orleans Saints wide receiver saw the best years of his career in terms of production under Sean Payton. Between 2016 and 2019, Thomas racked up four consecutive seasons of at least 1,000 yards and two years of at least 1,400 yards.

However, it was a night and day difference under Dennis Allen. Toted as one of the best wide receivers in the league under Sean Payton, Thomas hit a wall under Allen. In 2022 and 2023, Thomas had 619 yards and four touchdowns combined.

While he trended up between his 2022 and 2023 seasons, it wasn't enough to extend his time with the Saints, and the wide receiver was cut loose.

Thomas remains a free-agent wide receiver and at least on paper, the age-31 receiver should have at least one season left in the tank, but will he find his way back into the league in 2024?
