Aaron Rodgers injury update for Week 9

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been dealing with a thumb injury for a couple of weeks. While the basic assumption was that the wound would heal quickly, unfortunately, that hasn't been the case.

Rodgers is still dealing with the injury, which may have impacted his performance this season. The Green Bay Packers will face the Detroit Lions in Week 8, and Aaron Rodgers gave an update regarding his thumb injury.

Rodgers said the following regarding his thumb injury:

“Well, I heard it was going to be just a jog-through, so I figured I might as well get down there and be around, I wish I could tell you it was feeling better."

He added:

“But it was more just the necessity of jog-through, and feel like my presence down there was kind of more important today than an hour of rehab.”

The Packers are currently on a four-game losing streak. A win against the Lions in Week 9 is necessary if they want to keep their hopes alive of making it to the playoffs.

The Packers quarterback has a passer rating of 94.5. He has thrown for 1,800 yards, 13 touchdowns and four interceptions this season.

The game against the Detroit Lions came at the perfect time for Rodgers and the Packers. As previously mentioned, they are on a four-game losing streak and considering their record against the NFC North teams, they are likely to snap their losing streak.

Rodgers is is 18-6 versus the Lions in his career. During those 24 games, he has a passer rating of 108.8 with 6,055 yards, 52 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

The Packers didn't make any acquisitions ahead of the trade deadline and they are left with the same roster for the rest of the season. There has been an interest towards bringing in Odell Beckham Jr. to Green Bay, but that move is still quite far away from materializing.

Aaron Rodgers hasn't played at the MVP level like he has done throughout his career and largely it is due to the new receiving core of the Packers. He is building chemistry with young receivers, and it will be interesting to see if they make the playoffs after a very poor start to the season.
