Diggs is gradually getting back to full health after suffering an ACL injury with the Houston Texans in 2024. He met Maye during his participation in the Patriots' team meetings and on-field activities over the past few weeks. It appears that the two have been developing an off-field chemistry based on their recent remarks made during the Pats' training camp.

The second-year quarterback told reporters after the first day of New England's practice on Monday that Diggs looks like "an awesome teammate" and that he's "looking forward to being able to throw him some footballs.”

While it's unknown if Diggs heard Maye's comments about him, the veteran receiver also lauded his new teammate at a Tuesday media appearance, stating that Maye "is a dawg.”

When asked about the prospect of playing with Maye by reporters on Tuesday, Diggs replied:

“I like him. I can’t say too much because I haven’t been out there much, but as far as personality-wise, he is a dawg. You can tell he’s a dawg from the get-go.”

"I can see he’s committed to the process. He wants to play well. I know he’s been here all spring. So just to see him out there, he’s been real helpful, too," Diggs added.

With a new coach in Mike Vrabel and a redesigned roster, the Patriots are in the midst of a rebuild. While there's lots to do, fans must find it exciting that two of their most important offensive players are already getting close before the 2025 campaign begins.

Stefon Diggs comments on his early offseason controversy

A video of Stefon Diggs on a boat went viral, sparking controversy ahead of the New England Patriots' mandatory minicamp this offseason. But since then, the former Buffalo Bills man has joined his teammates for minicamp.

Diggs clarified that he has discussed his viral boat party with head coach Mike Vrabel when he was asked about it for the first time on Tuesday.

“I have a conversation with Vrabel obviously," Diggs said. "I’m going to echo everything he said. He told me I’m hoping everybody is making good decisions, and I had some conversations with people in the building as well, so everything else is everything else. The particulars are all internal.”

Diggs made himself available to take part in exercises and walkthroughs during the last parts of the Pats' mandatory minicamp. However, since he is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered last October, he did not take part in the 11-on-11 scrimmage portion of practice.
