“He said hybrid” – When Russell Wilson was critiqued in parody of racist profiler skit

Russell Wilson did not have the best season in 2022 with the Denver Broncos. In his first year in Colorado, he couldn't repeat his performances from his days with the Seattle Seahawks, the team who drafted him and took him to two Super Bowls.

His stock might have gone down in 2023, but there was a time when he was a real star. One of the funniest jokes made about him came in 2015, when Comedy Central created a parody of a racist profiler skit analyzing the players set to face each other before Super Bowl XLIX, disputed by the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

During the skit, players like Tom Brady and Rob Ninkovich were profiled as "hard-workers" and "tactical masterminds" while Marshawn Lynch and LeGarrette Blount were "specimen" and "Voodoo".

But the funniest bit came to Wilson.

"Hybrid! He said hybrid. He said hybrid though. That came out his mouth"

Thankfully, it was just a satire from Comedy Central.

There's no way Wilson is going to get away with poor performances for another year with Sean Payton at the helm.

They had to make an enormous deal with the New Orleans Saints to get the head coach's rights. He was still tied to his former organization, even though he walked away from the job after the 2021 season.

He was the head coach from 2006 to 2021, except for the 2012 season when he was suspended from the league. He had a fantastic partnership with quarterback Drew Brees and they won a Super Bowl together in 2009.

In a league where passing the ball effectively wins Super Bowls, Russell was upset with his team's offensive scheme and wanted to join forces with the head coach that resuscitated Drew Brees' career.

Given how much the Broncos invested to build this partnership, they definitely need a coach and quarterback to make it work. While Payton knows the magnitude of the job, he has made it clear that Wilson will be up to the same standards as other players.
