For Ravens quarterback Derrick Henry, Thursday Night Football turned out to be embarrassing over a jersey malfunction. He lost his pants in the middle of the play in the fourth quarter. In a now-viral clip, as Henry moved forward on a crucial drive, Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle B.J. Hill went ahead to stop him but accidentally pulled down the Ravens RB's pants.
Henry pulled his pants up quickly. However, the fans watching the live match already caught a glimpse of the mishap. Naturally, the slip-up became a point of joke for the NFL fandom.
"Well that cracks us up as well," a fan tweeted on X, formerly Twitter.
"AHHHH HENRY GYATT BEFORE GTA 6 IS INSANE," one fan tweeted, playing off the excitement about the upcoming video game's hype.
"We saw his booty," a fan commented.
"Most of these guys don't wear anything under their team pants, so I'm surprised this or worse doesn't happen more oftenm" another tweeted.
Jokes apart, for Henry, it was just another play in a tense game between the Bengals vs. Ravens, where Baltimore won over the Bengals 35–34.
Derrick Henry added an impressive performance to his 2024 NFL Season
In the TNF between the Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals, running back Derrick Henry, in spite of his awkward pant pulling, contributed 68 rushing yards and a touchdown. He is the NFL's top rusher with 1,120 yards.
That said, he has been playing in the league since 2016: first with the Titans till 2023 and now with the Ravens.
This off-season, he signed a $16 million deal with Baltimore for two years. Looking at his highlights from his playtime with his new team, he contributed 151 rushing yards on 25 attempts and two TDs in a Week 3 game against the Cowboys.
Henry took his performance to a new level in Week 4. He scored an 87-yard touchdown run on the Ravens' very first offensive play, the longest in franchise history. As the Ravens won the game over the Bills, Henry received the AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
In Week 5, Henry hit two milestones in his NFL career: his 100th career TD and crossing the 10,000 rushing yard mark.
Undeniably, Henry's season is shaping up to be in his favor, barring the today's jersey faux pas case.
