Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown signed with the team this offseason, looking to become a new speedy target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Brown was inactive while the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 27-20 on opening night.
Brown suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation in the Chiefs' preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars while making a catch. The injury forced him to miss the rest of the preseason as well as the season opener.
Former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered the same injury in 2019, keeping him sidelined for the season's first four games.

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid provided an update on Marquise Brown while speaking to the media on Wednesday. While he didn't rule Brown out of Sunday's game vs. the Bengals, the team is cautious with his injury, and it sounds like he may sit another week.
"He's getting close," Reid said. "I know he's feeling better. We've just got to kind of see where it goes from here. They've been doing these periodic tests on them and making sure that he's headed in the right direction, and scans and all that, but it looks like it's heading in the right direction. Now we just have to see where it goes from there."
Brown could possibly play Sunday, as he has yet to be ruled out, but it doesn't sound likely he will play.
Should fantasy managers be concerned about the Chiefs WR?
No, fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned about the status of Marquise Brown. Since his injury happened in the first preseason game, fans already expected Brown to miss some time, which affected his fantasy draft value.
While it sounds like he won't play in Week 2, there's optimism from Reid that he's recovering well and will be back on the field soon.
Tyreek Hill missed four games with the same injury in 2019. Brown suffered the injury earlier in the preseason than Hill did in 2019, suggesting he should be back by Week 4. Everyone heals differently, and Brown's recovery could take longer.
When Brown returns to the field, he's expected to be a primary target for Patrick Mahomes.
Hollywood Brown injury update
As per new reports, Marquise Brown will be placed on IR as he will undergo surgery to repair his SC joint. Though there is no recovery timeline, it could be days before Brown returns to the field.
Furthermore, delaying surgery also increases the risk of a longterm, more severe injury.
